Silverton is one of the most unique ski areas in North America, opened in 2002 -
with just one double chairlift- serving the most amazing black diamond skiing
around. Silverton has no groomed runs, no maintained trails, just a high alpine
environment for advanced and expert skiers. Guide services are on a daily basis,
and avalanche gear is required to ride the lift. Silverton Mountain located in
the classic western town of Silverton, Colorado has to be skied to be believed.
Silverton Ski Area also provides cat skiing tours and heli skiing on certain days with a guide.
The nearly 2,000 foot vertical double chair takes you to a ridge where you can
ski down something pretty crazy or climb to even more extreme terrain. A full
day at Silverton may result in just 2 to 5 runs with a bus ride back to the
base, or even a lif ton a UPS truck. This is core skiing, not for intermediates,
for expert experienced skiers an riders only. Silverton offers one of a kind in
bounds backcountry extreme terrain. Ski Silverton - to believe it.
